Friday Overview – 122nd Annual Meeting

Today at the Annual Meeting, attend sessions, view film festival films, and get your fill at one of the many luncheons or receptions. Also, make sure to stop by the General Meeting, where AHA president Barbara Weinstein will deliver her presidential address and the many AHA awards will be presented.

Sessions
Highlighted below are just a few of the many sessions taking place today. See the online Program for a list of all the Friday sessions.

Film Festival
Two films will be showcased for the film festival today, they are:

  • The Vagina Monologues: Stories from China
    11:00 a.m.-1 p.m., Omni, Executive Room
    The film tells the story of the adaptation of the play The Vagina Monologues by a group of scholars and students in China, and the controversy it generates.
  • Memorias do Cativeriro (Memories of Captivity)
    4:30-6:00 p.m., Omni, Executive Room
    The film was produced by the Memories of Slavery project of the Oral History and Image Laboratory of the Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil.

Luncheons and Receptions
There are a number of luncheons and receptions occurring today. Just a couple to note are:

General Meeting
The American Historical Association’s General Meeting will take place tonight at 8:30 p.m. in the Marriott, Ballroom 2. AHA President Barbara Weinstein will deliver her presidential address: “Developing Inequality.” Recipients of AHA prizes will also be presented their awards.
