Grant of the Week: Laura Shannon Book Prize in Contemporary European Studies

AHA Staff | Dec 25, 2009

The Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame is announcing a new book prize, the Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies.  Books may be nominated by authors or by publishers.  The prize carries a $10,000 award for “the best book in European studies that transcends a focus on any one country, state, or people to stimulate new ways of thinking about contemporary Europe as a whole.”  It rotates between the Humanities and History & Social Sciences.  The first winner of the Humanities cycle will soon be announced, and the institute is now accepting nominations for the first prize in History or Social Sciences, for books published in 2008 or 2009.  The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2010.  For additional information and instructions on how to apply, see the Laura Shannon Prize page.
