Increase in Financial Support for Childcare at the Annual Meeting

AHA Staff | Oct 15, 2014

We are delighted to announce that the AHA Council has voted to increase the amount of childcare grants to $250 for each awardee attending the 2015 meeting. Ten childcare grants are available, and can be used to offset childcare costs associated with the meeting. The grants are awarded to early career historians, graduate students, and adjuncts with dependent children.

The AHA seeks to remove barriers to participation at the annual meeting. In 2010 we conducted a survey to discover whether offering to assist with childcare would make attendance more accessible to parents and guardians of dependent children. Following a successful pilot program, we have offered childcare grants each year, enabling even more historians to participate in, and benefit from, the meeting.

Read more about the eligibility criteria. The application period is now open, and closes on November 1, 2014.

If you need additional information or have any questions please e-mail us at childcare@historians.org.
