HistoriansTV at the 123rd Annual Meeting - October 13, 2008

The AHA has partnered with WebsEdge of London, UK to produce HistoriansTV, a daily television program during the 123rd Annual Meeting (January 2-5, 2009 in New York City).  Each day of the meeting a new 30-minute news program will be broadcast which will include interviews with key speakers, news from the conference floor, and several five-minute “thought leadership films”...

Open Forum on Disability - January 16, 2008

The AHA Professional Division sponsored an Open Forum on Disability on Friday, January 4, 2008. Anthony Grafton, the outgoing vice-president of the division, announced that Council has approved the formation of a Task Force on Disability. The three-year task force, made up of representatives from the Professional Division and the Disability History Association, will propose concrete steps the Association can take to better serve historians with disabilities.

At the 2008 General Meeting, held last night at the Marriott Wardman Park at 8:30 p.m., AHA president-elect Gabrielle Spiegel presented the AHA’s prize and award winners for 2007. Opening of the 122nd Annual Meeting - January 04, 2008

Barbara Weinstein, president of the American Historical Association, kicked off last night’s “Opening of the 122 nd Annual Meeting” by presenting Richard Moe, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, with the fifth Theodore Roosevelt-Woodrow Wilson Public Service Award. The Plenary session, “Searching for the Sounds of the Nation: Music, Race, and National Identities in the United States and Brazil,” followed the presentation of the award and explored the topics of race and identity through the lens of music.

Housing for the 122nd Annual Meeting – New Block of Rooms Added - December 10, 2007

The AHA’s initial block of rooms at the Marriott, Omni, and Hilton Washington, for the 122nd Annual Meeting, has sold out, but AHA staff have added a block of 200 rooms at the AHA’s group rates ($109 single, $139 double) at the Hotel Palomar Washington, D.C.

It is now possible to preregister for the AHA’s 122nd Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., taking place this coming January 3–6, 2008. Members should login to member services to take advantage of member discounts on meeting registration. Non-members can register through a link on the Annual Meeting registration page. Preregistration closes December 21, 2007; so make sure you don’t miss this window of lower meeting registration rates.
