National Book Festival Returns to D.C.

2010 National Book FestivalLess than a month from now—September 25, 2010—the Library of Congress will hold its 10th annual National Book Festival on the national mall between 3rd and 7th streets.

In tents set up on the mall grounds, visitors can buy books, get autographs, hear speakers, and ask questions of their favorite authors in the categories of “Children,” “Contemporary Life,” “Fiction and Mystery,” “History and Biography,” “Poetry and Prose,” and “Teens and Children.” The current list of authors can be found here.  President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama serve as honorary co-chairs of the event.

Notable historians participating this year include Nell Irvin Painter, a former member of AHA Council, and Gordon S. Wood.

    How does one have a book considered for purchase at the Festival? My recently published book is titled: The Quiet One: General Roscoe Robinson, Jr. It is biography of the first African American four-star general in the U.S. Army.
