Recent Updates from the National Coalition for History

The National Coalition for History’s Leland White has posted a flurry of Washington updates since last week. His coverage includes:
- Smithsonian Official Resigns After Destroying Key Records
James M. Hobbins, who was executive assistant to the secretary of the Smithsonian, resigned last week after allegations surfaced that he’d destroyed minutes from a Smithsonian Board of Regents meeting that took place in January.
- NEH Announces $26 Million in New Grants
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced their funding and support of over 159 projects.
- Archives Requests Feedback on Presidential Library Museums
The National Archives and Records Administration is looking for feedback from the public on a possible survey that would collection information on visitor experiences at Presidential libraries. - Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Meeting
This Friday, August 17th, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will hold a public meeting to discuss, among other things, the National Park Service’s (NPS) Centennial Challenge, and Battlefield Landscape Restoration Initiative.
